About
Meet your Tai Chi teacher
I am Jeremy Chen, a teacher based in rural Victoria, Australia. I teach Tai Chi (Yang style) to beginners and continuing students.
My Background
I have been practising Tai Chi for several years. What drew me to the art was its combination of physical movement, mental calm, and philosophical depth. It is not just exercise — it is a way of paying attention to your body and mind.
As a teacher by profession, I find joy in sharing this practice with others. I believe that Tai Chi is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or background.
What I Teach
I teach Yang style Tai Chi — the most widely practised form in the world, known for its large, smooth, flowing movements. Classes cover:
- Foundational movements and postures
- Breathing and standing meditation
- The Yang 24-form (simplified Tai Chi)
- Push hands and partner exercises (for continuing students)
Class Philosophy
My classes are relaxed and welcoming. There is no pressure to perform or compete. Everyone learns at their own pace. I emphasise:
- Relaxation over effort — softness is strength in Tai Chi
- Feeling over memorising — pay attention to how your body moves
- Practice over perfection — regular practice matters more than getting it right
- Community — we learn better together
